Alarcio pushes progam in CV

Police regional director Silverio Alarcio, Jr. considers duplicating in other cities, municipalities, and provinces in Central Visayas the Oplan Pakigsandurot being implemented by Cebu City in the barangay level.
Alarcio, who assumed office last May 18, is the first regional director who attended the barangay-based gathering of Oplan Pakigsandurot conceptualized by Mayor Tomas Osmeña since he assumed the post in 2001.
Oplan Pakigsandurot allows barangay officials, police authorities and the community to work together in maintaining peace and order in their respective barangays.
"We will come up with the best application of Oplan Pakigsandurot. We will evaluate and duplicate it in other places in the region," Alarcio told barangay officials during the gathering last Monday in barangay Parian.
Cebu City councilor Procopio Fernandez, council chairman of the committee on police, also asked Alarcio to issue a directive to policemen-residents in their respective barangays, who are assigned outside of Cebu city, to render a two-hour service to their respective home communities.
"Affirmative ang iyang response sa atong request niya. We welcome that development," Fernandez said, adding that they are now into the completion of a master list of policemen assigned in Cebu city. - Garry B. Lao
