Police assure safety of night shift workers

-
Police assured the safety of workers in call centers and those at firms inside the Mactan Export Processing Zone in Lapu-Lapu City, most especially those on night shift.

This after representatives of different call centers here and inside the MEPZ complained to the police of night shift workers being preyed upon by snatchers and robbers.

Police Regional Office-7 Chief Superintendent Silverio Alarcio said more policemen will be deployed at areas where call centers are located.

This would also include places where workers of firms inside the MEPZ would wait for a ride, Alarcio vowed.

On the other hand, Cebu City police chief Melvin Gayotin said he directed station chiefs to conduct foot patrol and mobile patrol during nighttime.

He directed police station chiefs to identify crime-prone areas during nighttime.

Operatives of the Theft and Robbery Section also vowed to closely monitor these "critical areas" from motorcycle-riding snatchers and robbers.

Last week, at least three victims reported to the police that they were victimized by motorcycle-riding snatchers. - Jose P. Sollano
