Body of slain farmer found near his house in Danao

The already decomposing body of a 61-year-old farmer was found beside his house at sitio Tagaytay, barangay Lawaan, Danao City, last Saturday afternoon.
The dead farmer was identified as Lope Tariao who was left alone in the house a few days ago when wife, Marcelina, left to visit their children at barangay Tabok, also in the city.
Marcelina returned home to find her husband already dead and it was chief tanod Jolito Manco who reported the matter to the police.
Danao City policemen, led by SPO2 Roberto Canencia, and soldiers of the 78th Infantry Battalion based in Dungo-an, this city, responded to the alarm.
They arrived at the scene and saw the sprawled Lope with a gunshot wound in the right side of his head. His right hand was still clutching a bolo.
Investigation disclosed that Lope was last seen alive having an argument with a group of bird hunters near his house. - Gregg M. Rubio
