Power outages set tomorrow & Sunday

-
Power outages will hit several portions of the cities of Cebu and Mandaue this weekend as the Transmission and Distribution department of the Visayan Electric Company will conduct maintenance works expected to affect delivery of electricity in said areas.

Tomorrow, Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., VECO will replace the 35-foot to 40-foot concrete poles and transfer the line hardware to the new concrete poles that will cause brownouts in Villalon Drive and barangays Camputhaw, Capitol Site and Lahug.

Two additional poles will also be erected at Espina Village in barangay Guadalupe and the installation of the system line protection will result in a 4-hour power outage in the area from 8 a.m. to noontime.

In barangay Mabolo, the erection of a 40-foot concrete pole and installation of system line protection will cause brownouts that will start at 7 a.m. and end at 2 p.m. to enable VECO to install line protection devices in portions of F. Cabahug Street and Ayala Access Road.

On Sunday, power interruptions will hit barangays Guizo, Ibabao, Alang-Alang and Cambaro all in Mandaue City, as VECO will relocate a pole away from a newly constructed building along A.C. Cortes as early as 6 a.m. until 10 a.m.

Meanwhile, power switching will occur from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. to isolate barangays Tingub, Tabok, Casuntingan, Cabancalan, Maguikay and Bakilid from the Transmission and Distribution department's main work at A.C. Cortes. After the pole relocation is completed, a less-than-an-hour power outage will affect the areas, which were isolated earlier. Switching works start at 9 a.m. Normal power supply is expected to resume right after. - Wenna A. Berondo
