Fisherman survives 24 hours in the sea

-
A fisherman from Negros Occidental was washed ashore in his pump boat in San Remegio town, Cebu, last Thursday, after being swept away from the seawaters off Negros Occidental the day before.

Romeo Barok, 37, a resident of sitio Palanas, barangay Balintawak, Old Escalante, Negros Occidental, docked in sitio Tabunok, barangay Poblacion, San Remegio town, after spending about 24 hours in the sea.

The San Remegio police said Barok told them he went fishing alone around 3 p.m. last Wednesday in the seawaters off sitio Palanas when suddenly big waves hit his pump boat and drove him further out to sea.

He was housed in the San Remegio police station while the Negros Occidental PNP Office was requested to inform his wife Rosemarie in Old Escalante that her husband was found safe. - Rose Marie Chris S. Dalaguit
