May 7, 2006 | 12:00am
An old grudge that stemmed from a business rivalry prompted a 46-year-old man to shoot his brother-in-law and his two workers inside the Balamban Public Market around 5 p.m. the other day.
Police identified the suspect as Jovel Pesquerra, who fired four times but missed the victims as they immediately ran for cover.
The victims, Robert Tanada, 40, and his workers Romel Caburnay, 23, and Efren Gitalda, 16, claimed that the suspect came to their stall drunk and immediately fired upon them using his .38 revolver.
Tanada said that Pesquerra harbored a grudge on him over their business rivalry inside the market where they both have stalls.
Responding policemen arrested Pesquerra and confiscated his firearm.
