Three days after she went missing, a woman was found dead hanging from rope tied to a madre de cacao tree 300 meters away from her house in sitio Kadayong, barangay Guadalupe, Carcar town.
The fatality was identified as Leonora Madrid, 29, a resident of the said barangay. She was last seen in her parents' house last Thursday and has not been heard from since after she suddenly left.
It was her neighbor Leonora Gellica who found her body as she was gathering grass for her cow.
Gellica told the Carcar police about the body and police came and took it down. They reckon the body had been there for three days.
Sources said that the victim had tried to take her own life three times in the past. She was reportedly depressed after her parents could not send her to school because they were poor. And whenever she was scolded she would sulk and attempt to kill herself.
