Tax collector shot by livestock dealer

A tax collector in barangay Mantalongon, Barili town, was shot yesterday after confronting a livestock dealer regarding his credentials.
Martin Gingoyon Layam, 42, a resident of brgy. Gibuwanagan, Barili Cebu was collecting tickets and credentials from all livestock dealers and buyers in one of his rounds yesterday when he confronted the alleged assailant Jojo Gonzaga, a resident of barangay Tabunok, Talisay City.
The alleged assailant got mad and walked away. At around 1:30 p.m., Gonzaga allegedlyreturned and shot the victim in both thighs. He was able to escape as the victim was rushed to the hospital
Responding policemen recovered two spent shells from the crime scene. - Nancy Marie C. Dael
