Pamper OFWs, they help keep economy afloat – PB member

-
Soon job hunters seeking employment abroad may not have to wait for days to get clearances from the National Bureau of Investigation and the National Statistics Office.

A provincial board member has introduced a resolution enjoining the NBI and NSO to create an express lane exclusively for securing clearances.

PB member Victor Maambong said there is an increasing number of Filipino workers who seek work abroad. He said overseas Filipino workers have significantly contributed to the progress and stability of the country's economy through remittances of their salary.

But Maambong said among the requirements for employment of Filipinos to work abroad are NBI clearances and birth and marriage certificates from NSO.

Maambong said there is a need for the two national government agencies to acknowledge the big contributions of the OFWs by simplifying and speeding up the process of securing the required clearances.

He also added that the best possible process of securing clearances for aspiring OFWs is to allow them to secure their clearances and certificates without delay.

"The clearances and certificates whenever there are no reasonable and lawful grounds to hold them, should be released within the day of the application to accommodate residents from distant towns and cities." - Jose P. Sollano
