Two-day processions kick off this evening
April 13, 2006 | 12:00am
Life-size religious images will tour around the city for the traditional processions today (Maundy Thursday) and tomorrow (Good Friday) to commemorate the sufferings and death of Jesus Christ.
The images will be surrounded with elaborate floral decorations and lights on carrozas, usually mini-trucks.
These images that will be brought around the city streets are "Santo Entiero" (Haya ni Kristo) and the "Dolorosa" (Sorrowful Mother Mary).
Images of important characters like the apostle Peter, Mary Magdalene and St. Veronica will be included since some devotees say prayers while following their carrozas.
The first procession, which will start at 6:30 p.m. today, will depict the incidents before Jesus' death, including the betrayal of Judas up to Pontius Pilate's washing of hands.
In Guadalupe, a street play depicting Jesus' passion dubbed "Buhing Kalbaryo" will be held on Friday noon.
