Cebu City Fire Marshal Ysmael Codilla said narrow roads, belongings spilled on the ground, and onlookers hindered firemen's efforts to quickly stop the fire. Firefighters from Cebu City and the Chinese-Filipino Fire Brigade had to connect their hoses just to get to the interior.
Investigator FO3 Nick Ouano placed the damage to property at P600,000 but has not yet determined the cause of the fire which allegedly originated from the house of one Rogelio Pena. No casualties were reported.
The Cebu City fire department received the alarm at 10:47 p.m. It was over in 37 minutes.
Ouano said that the incident was the first for this month while it was the 8th "working fire," or a big fire, since January.
