DepEd launches nationwide search for outstanding science club advisers

In its aim to recognize exemplary and outstanding science club advisers in the country, the Department of Education through the DepEd Center for Students and Co-curricular Affairs has launched its 2006 Search for the Outstanding Science Club Advisers in the Country.
The search aims to promote science consciousness and public understanding of science, technology and environment in the grassroots level and highlight the importance of the role of Science Club advisers in the management of co-curricular organizations in schools and their significant contributions in the community.
The search is open to all public and private elementary and secondary Science Club advisers in the country affiliated with the Science Club Advisers Association of the Philippines who made significant contributions to the advancement of science education.
DepEd has authorized the Deped Center for Students and Co-curricular affairs and the Science Club Advisers Association of the Philippines to promote, support and monitor the conduct of the search in all levels.
The regional office, through the science education supervisors in the elementary and secondary levels have been requested by DepEd to initiate or organize a selection committee in the regional level and submit a consolidated report indicating the list of all participating science club advisers.
The search has two categories namely, the elementary and secondary.
Participants of the search should submit a duly accomplished official entry form with the complete list of officers and advisers of the SCAAP Division Chapter including the list of projects that the participant has made from June 2004 to May 2006.
Winners in both the elementary and secondary category will receive P10,000. The school, meanwhile will get P5,000. The national winner will receive a presidential trophy, a plaque and a trip to Hong Kong.
All interested Science club advisers may submit all the requirements needed to the DepEd regional office. - Jasmin R. Uy
