Man survives "vigilante" attack

A man survived an attack purportedly carried out by vigilantes yesterday dawn at the corner of Borromeo and Leon Kilat streets.

Holden See, 32, a resident of Balagtas Street, barangay Pahina Central, was shot by two unidentified men who came on board a red Kawasaki Aura motorcycle.

Based on the investigation conducted by the Homicide Section, the victim said that while he was sitting on a bench with his live-in partner Eunisa Canques, the motorcycle drove up to them and one of the men quickly alighted and shot him for no reason at all.

See was hit in the right side of the body and hip but still managed to run away but the suspect continued to chase him. He managed to hide in one of the rooms of a lodging house and waited until the assailant gave up the chase and ran towards the waiting motorcycle.

The two men were last see heading towards Sanciangko Street.

Responding policemen brought See to the Cebu City Medical Center.

An empty .45 cal. shell was recovered from the crime scene. The police have no idea yet why the assailants wanted See dead. - Flor Z. Perolina
