Dr. Marie Kristina Britt Ellsinger was found lifeless by her live-in partner, Thomas Bill Anderson, 55, also a Swedish national, inside their room at a resort in that city.
Initial investigation conducted by P/Insp. Francisco Baguio and PO3 William Homoc of the Homicide Section of the Lapu-Lapu City police revealed that Ellsinger has long been suffering from stomach pains and was taking several medicines.
The couple was fond of drinking alcoholic beverages, according to Ronalie Alendain, owner of the Vista Del Mar Resort.
At around 2 p.m. on Monday, personnel of the Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation received a telephone call from Alendain's live-in partner, Mike Kjeligren, who asked assistance regarding the incident.
Upon their arrival, Ellsinger's body has been unresponsive and was already stiffening. The homicide police also observed discoloration of her skin and noticed a reddish watery substance oozing from her nose.
Police, who recovered pieces of medicine inside the couple's room such as novaluzid, imodium, flouxetin and Omeprazole, revealed that they found no signs of foul play surrounding Ellsinger's death.
Ellsinger's body was brought to Rolling Hills Funeral Homes for autopsy.
The couple was visiting the country for a 21-day vacation. They arrived in Lapu-Lapu City on February 16. - Norvie S. Misa
