Consolacion awards 33: 'Tanging Mamamayan'

Consolacion town mayor Avelino Gungob, Sr. led the 33 awardees in the town's "Tanging Mamamayan Award" during its 86th founding anniversary the other day.
Marilou Herrera, chairman of the awards committee, said that the awards recognized citizens, both living and deceased, whose generous lot donations gave way for the construction of elementary and secondary schools in their respective barangays.
Herrera said that because of the lots donated by various generous individuals and institutions, several barangay halls, basketball courts, daycare centers and health centers were constructed thereon. Municipal and barangay roads were also constructed because of the generosity of these people and organizations.
The award also honored distinct individuals whose extraordinary performances in their fields of specialization are worth praising and emulating.
"Our honorees did not only contribute properties, but have shared their dreams for our schoolchildren and the aspirations of our people. They did not only give what they have but they have shared what they are," Herrera, who is also the municipal assessor, said.
Those who received posthumous awards and were given plaques of recognition are the families of the late Hilario Ponce, Pedro Bihag, Aniceto Alinsug, Maximo Gerona, Basilio Isok, Felipe Bontuyan, former mayor Felipe Hatamosa, Calixto Pamotongan, Esteban Cuyos, Gregorio Besavilla and Constancio Go, Sr.
While those given plaques of recognition for current lot donors were Mayor Gungob, Eduardo Balaba, Elsa Tecling, Estelita Tanjay, Tom Tan, Annie Tan, Nathaniel Tan, Marcial Dawa, Apolinario Salde, Juanito Magale, Jose Ng, Gerardo Adolfo, Rosendo Maglasang and Emigdio Yongco.
Plaques of recognition were also given to Aboitiz Group Foundation Inc., Fil-Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Greenhills Farms Inc. and Sta. Lucia Realty and Development Inc.
Individual awardees recognized for their exemplary achievements include Consolacion MTCC presiding judge Jocelyn Uy-Po, Roberto Flores in the field of sports, Calvin Cempron for being the regional champion in feature writing and Florito Carlo Dugaduga for his active partnership with the LGU in its Idolacion, Tingog and Dansolacion activities for several years now. - Mitchelle P.
