CIIB arrests couple in Ermita drug raid

Elements of the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Branch of the Cebu City Police Office arrested a couple during an anti-illegal drug operation in barangay Ermita Monday night.

The team, armed with a search warrant signed by Judge Fortunato de Gracia of the Regional Trial Court Branch 7, raided the house of Bebot and Evelyn Sebua and seized 11 medium packs of suspected shabu and at least P6,000 cash.

Police also arrested barangay councilman Teodulo Francisco of Banakon Island, Getafe, Bohol when he intervened during the raid on the house of the suspects, who were now detained at the Camp Sotero Cabahug.

After the couple's arrest, police proceeded to the house of suspected drug pusher Estelita Lerio, who was not around when the authorities arrived. But police were able to recover 20 medium packs of suspected shabu from Lerio's house.

All pieces of evidence were then turned over to the police crime laboratory for examination.

CIIB chief Paul Labra said the Sebua couple and Lerio were considered bigtime drug pushers who can dispose of at least 200 grams to a kilo of shabu a week.

Labra added that they had raided Lerio's house several times but she would always elude arrest. - Flor Z. Perolina
