The Cebu City government has reportedly allocated a hectare of lot at the South Reclamation Project for this year's planned construction of a two-story building that would house the regional offices of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board and the Land Transportation Office.
LTFRB-7 regional director Rogelio Osmeña said that of the one-hectare lot, only 400 square meters will be used for the proposed two-story building. The rest of the area may be utilized as driving range and parking space.
He added that such development is of great help to his office in serving their clients better.
Osmeña also expressed he wants the regional office of the LTO to be in the same place for the convenience of drivers, operators and owners of vehicles who need licenses and registration.
He said LTO may even put up its own driving range for driver's license applicants, and provide a wide parking area for its clients.
LTO-7 officer-in-charge Vicente Gador, Jr. has supported the proposal.
LTO-7 is temporarily occupying a lot owned by the provincial government along Natalio Bacalso Avenue.
The LTO is in charge of registration of vehicles and issuance of driver's licenses while LTFRB is in charge of issuance of franchises for public utility vehicles like buses, jeepneys and taxi units.
