Power outage to hit 38 brgys tomorrow

Twenty-three barangays of Cebu City and 15 barangays of Mandaue City would be affected by brownouts tomorrow, Saturday due to Visayan Electric Company's scheduled maintenance and upgrading of its facilities.

>From 5 a.m. to 5:15 a.m., and from 3:15 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. tomorrow, the barangays of Cabancalan, Casuntingan, Maguikay, Ibabao, Alang-Alang, Guizo, Cambaro, Centro, Bakilid, Looc, Mantuyong, Tipolo, Subangdaku and Tingub would experience power interruptions.

VECO said it would have to cut off power supply to these areas because it would be facilitating the transfer of its 69-kilovolt supply at its Mandaue 311 and 312 substations.

At 5:15 a.m. to 5:45 a.m. and at 2 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. tomorrow, the portions of barangays Kalunasan, Lahug, Camputhaw, Barrio Luz, Kasambagan and Mabolo will also experience power outage as VECO will be transferring its feeder load at its Ayala 311 feeder.

Also tomorrow, the power utility will be transferring its feeder load at its entire Mabolo substation that would result to power interruptions in portions of barangays Mabolo, Subangdaku, Reclamation area, Hipodromo and Carreta that will start from 5:15 a.m. to 5:45 a.m. and from 2 p.m. to 2:15 p.m.

The barangays of Tabunan, Pung-ol Sibugay, Babag, Bonbon, Buot-Taup, Kalunasan, Apas, Lahug, Kasambagan, Taptap, Sudlon II, Malubog, Busay, Sinsin, and Barrio Luz will also experience brownout from 5:15 a.m. to 5:45 a.m. and from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. tomorrow also due to transfer of feeder load by VECO at its entire Banilad substation.

And lastly, portions of barangay Kasambagan will have no electricity from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. tomorrow as VECO will facilitate the line construction and upgrading of the lateral portion of its Banilad 311 and Banilad 312 feeders. - Wenna A. Berondo
