Fire destroys house in Asturias

Fire destroyed a two-story ancestral house in barangay Poblacion, Asturias at 12:30 a.m. while the lone occupant was sleeping.

Damage to property was placed at P622,000.

The house was owned by a certain Noel but was being occupied by one Agnes Aventuna Pardillo.

The fire, attributed to faulty electrical wiring, reportedly started from the stairs leading to the second floor. Police had to seek help from Balamban and Tuburan town for assistance, the fact that Asturias has no firetrucks to speak of.

Pardillo was taken to Balamban district hospital after suffering from a mild heart attack. - Gregg M. Rubio
