Talisay Council to regulate 'cannibalized' motorcycles
January 12, 2006 | 12:00am
The Talisay City government is set to regulate the increasing number of "cannibalized" motorcycles after it was found that they are sometimes used in illegal activities.
In its recent meeting, the city's Traffic Commission (Tracom) agreed to push for an ordinance regulating the existence of backyard-assembled motorbikes, whose number has dramatically increased for the past years.
Some of these motorbikes are even used as get-away vehicles for cell phone snatching.
Since most of them are unregistered, authorities find it hard to track down these motorbikes, which are also used in drag racing, a common event at the Talisay portion of the Cebu South Coastal Road during nighttime.
