The Metro Cebu Bridge Management Board approved the contract of an advertisement and promotions company based in Davao City to put up advertisements at the 130 lampposts of both the Mandaue-Mactan Bridge and Marcelo B. Fernan Bridge linking Mandaue City and Lapu-Lapu City.
Governor Gwendolyn Garcia announced this after a meeting with the members of the bridge management board, saying that ATF Ads and Promo Management, owned by Alex Montañez of Davao City, is the lone bidder which submitted a bid of P211, 000 in monthly rental fees for ad materials put up at the 130 lampposts.
According to Garcia, the contract will take effect this coming February until February of 2007 but that only those advertisements approved by the bridge management board will be put up at these posts.
Also, Garcia announced that an American firm has offered to install a surveillance camera at the two bridges to monitor vandals and thieves who keep on coming back to spray graffiti and steal electric cable wires.
Garcia said she welcomes this development as a means to protect the bridges and provide security measure with the upcoming ASEAN summit. - Jose P. Sollano
