A man who owned a store in one of the mountain barangays of Consolacion town was robbed of P97,000 cash and P48,000 worth of jewelry last Thursday night to three unidentified men.
Rolando Pelonio, 32, a resident of sitio Tupas, barangay Lanipga, Consolacion town, was robbed by three men who barged inside his store and announced a hold-up. They then tied his hands and ransacked his store.
The victim's closest neighbor lived about a hundred meters away, police also took some time getting there as the barangay is remote.
Residents of the area reported that before the incident they already saw three strangers roaming around in the barangay.
Meanwhile, a businessman who owned a store in sitio Seaweeds, barangay Pusok, Lapu-Lapu City, was almost robbed of his store's proceeds of the day by two men as he was on his way home last Friday afternoon.
Romero Serafin, a resident of the said place, was heading home from his store bringing a blue bag containing his day's earnings when the two came and tried to grab his bag.
Serafin fought for the bag until the robbers both ran off.
Police then conducted a hot pursuit operation but failed to arrest the two. - Flor Z. Perolina
