Cop hit for intervening in Capitol demolition

-
Members of the provincial real properties protection task force have accused a policeman of intervening in a demolition ordered by Governor Gwendolyn Garcia against illegal structures at a province-owned lot.

Valentino Cruz, who led the demolition task force that tore down illegal structures allegedly constructed by Eduardo Cabigas on the provincial lot in Nivel Hills, barangay Lahug, said that PO3 Oliver Glodove harassed and ordered them to stop the demolition.

Cruz, in his report to the governor, said while they were demolishing Cabigas' structure, Glodove arrived in a police car and angrily told them to stop the demolition. The team then stopped to avoid possible physical confrontation.

Cruz claimed that Glodove told them that the owner of the structure would personally talk to the governor about the demolition.

Garcia ordered the demolition of illegal structures at the province-owned lots through an executive order issued last April.

The Executive Order 2005-09 created the provincial real properties protection task force, headed by provincial treasurer Roy Salubre, whose task is to clear the province-owned lots of squatters and illegal structures. - Fred P. Languido
