Toledo produces organic fertilizer

Toledo City is now producing an organic fertilizer that is expected to double the yield of crops in Central Visayas.
This developed as the Toledo City Council has passed an ordinance to ensure that the BIO-N organic fertilizer will not be sold at a high price.
The council ordinance, which was recently submitted for review to the Provincial Board committee on laws, authorizes the city agriculture department to sell Bio-N organic fertilizer at P60 for every pack of 200 grams.
It also required the issuance of receipt to prevent the sale of fake BIO-N fertilizer, which is sold at more than a hundred pesos a pack.
Toledo City was chosen by the Department of Agriculture as the production center of the fertilizer for the region. The DA provided the necessary equipment while the city set aside the lot for the production laboratory.
A P1,000 penalty or an imprisonment of one month will be imposed on producers and sellers of the fake BIO-N fertilizer. - Ferliza C. Contratista
