Korean drowns in Oslob town

A Korean national was reported to have drowned while scuba diving in the seawaters off Sumilon Island in Oslob town Wednesday afternoon.

Byoung Bok Park, 52, of Seoul, South Korea was diving when he was reported to have suffered a heart attack 14 meters below, dive guide Froilan Taguan of P.G. Divers Inn told police. Park's companion, Lee Tue Kyum, said Park was already unconscious when admitted to the Siliman General Hospital in Dumaguete City.

But Chan Sun Won, manager and owner of P.G. Divers Inn, told police that Park was already dead when brought to the hospital.

Elenita Mirana, an employee of P.G. Divers Inn, which is located in barangay Lilo-an in nearby Santander town, said Park and 26 other Korean nationals had checked in since Sunday. - Norvie N. Misa
