UV, Trans-Asia sign MOA for midshipmen training

The University of the Visayas has recently entered into a memorandum of agreement with Trans-Asia Shipping for the conduct of Cadet Midshipmen Training Program for UV's maritime students.

UV executive vice president Jose Gullas and Trans Asia board chairman Julian Sy signed last November 7 the vital agreement that would provide maritime students of UV a better training onboard better vessels.

UV assistant vice-president for administration Gerald Anthony Gullas, vice-president for administration Eladio Dioko, and vice president for external affairs Joseph Baduel attended the signing of the MOA.

All midshipmen, as an integral part of their professional training, participate in a cooperative educational program during their first two periods of the year.

Training aboard ship is designed to give the midshipman practical knowledge of the performance and operating characteristics of various classes of vessels, the operating requirements in different trade routes, and labor relations in the ocean shipping industry. -Jasmin R. Uy
