A man and a minor were detained at the Minglanilla police station after they admitted burglarizing a house inside the Villa Feliza compound in barangay Tungkil last Saturday afternoon.
Michael Sabellano, 19, married, of barangay Basak, Cebu City, who worked as construction worker inside the Villa Feliza compound, and his 13-year-old companion were arrested by the Minglanilla police for burglarizing the house of a certain Benny dela Calzada.
PO3 Procullo Ando of the Minglanilla police said that it was Tungkil barangay captain Manolo Delgado who called up their station to report the incident.
Ando said Delgado relayed information that neighbors of the victim saw the two suspects enter the house of Dela Calzada last Saturday afternoon by destroying the grill of the kitchen window.
Witnesses said it was the minor who opened the door of the kitchen by inserting his arm past the destroyed grill to unlock the doorknob.
The suspects took a mobile phone worth P17,000 and an air gun rifle worth P12,000.
Ando said that since both suspects were still at the subdivision when they arrived, the two were immediately picked up for questioning, and admitted to the crime at the police station.
Though the stolen items were recovered, Dela Calzada said he will be filing a case of theft today against the two. - Flor Z. Perolina
