A trisikad driver died on the spot after an alleged speeding Suzuki multicab bound for Cebu City hit him when he tried to cross to the opposite side of the road last Saturday morning in barangay Casay, Dalaguete town.
The victim was identified as Alex Beceril, a resident of the said place, while the multicab driver was identified as Alfonso Molde, 48, and a resident of barangay Gusa, Lapu-Lapu City.
Beceril reportedly sustained fractures in the different parts of his body after he was thrown away from the trisikad onto the concrete road.
He was then rushed to the Isidro Kintanar Memorial Hospital in Dalaguete, but the attending physician pronounced him dead on arrival.
The driver of the multicab voluntarily surrendered to SPO1 Arestides Carillo of the Dalaguete Police.
However, Carillo said that as of yesterday, the relatives of the victim and the multicab driver came up with an amicable settlement after the latter assured he would shoulder the expenses for the burial of the victim. - Flor Z. Perolina
