Talisay abattoir posts increase in collections

The Talisay City Livestock and Poultry Processing Plant, which operates the new slaughterhouse, has recorded an increase in collections last month.

City administrator Aurora Econg, in a comparative collection report for the month of September and October, said the cash collection recorded an 18.24 percent increase. Collections for the month of September reached P500, 601.70 while collections for the month of October reached P612,338.10. Based on the daily collection report, the highest collection was posted on October 31, with P38,918.70.

Econg, however, said that despite the increase in collections, this is still not sufficient to offset the city government's P755, 243.33 monthly appropriation for the maintenance expenses of the facility. The city is hopeful that there will still be increases in the collections for the last two months of this year, especially with the deployment of meat inspectors.

Records at the city accounting office showed that of the total funds appropriated monthly for the city's slaughterhouse, P375,900 goes to the salaries of job order workers assigned at the facility, P165,491 goes to maintenance and operating expenses, P130,000 for gasoline and P83,852.33 for personnel services. - Garry B.
