Children sell vintage bomb to junk shop

-
The Special Weapons and Tactics rushed to a junkshop along Borromeo Street, barangay Pahina Central, yesterday morning, after a report that a group of children had just sold the shop what might have been a vintage explosive.

PO3 Marcelo Lerio of SWAT said shop owner Roberto Andoling reported to him that the item was sold to him by a group of children and that he was about to take it apart with a hacksaw when somebody suggested otherwise.

Andoling decided to be on the safe side and called the SWAT.

"Gabson na unta niya, maayo gani naay tawo mibadlong niya, ang fuse ani partly gikaon na sa taya pero posibleng duna pay pulbura sa sulod (He was about to saw it apart, it was good that somebody warned him, it has a fuse partly rusted, but it might still contain explosives inside)," Lerio said.

The SWAT later confirmed that it was an artillery round resembling an 81mm mortar shell used during World War II. - Flor Z. Perolina
