RAFI rebuilds brgy Canduman

The Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. successfully carried out a P15-million undertaking dubbed as Barangay Canduman Upscaling and Empowerment Project, which provided relief to over 600 families.

The residents of Zone 3 of the Canduman New Settlement Site in Mandaue City used to have narrow muddy roads and foul-smelling water. With the RAFI project, however, the area is now organized, clean and flood-free.

"There is a big difference that can be noticed in the area and on people living here. We used to be unorganized. We are so thankful to RAFI and its partners for the change. They did not only assist in providing us a peaceful and livable place to live in, but have also changed us and made us a better community," Sanny Geray, one of barangay Canduman's residents said in yesterday's project turn-over and inauguration ceremony.

RAFI implemented the project in coordination with the Japan Social Development Fund, World Bank, Partnership of Philippine Support Service Agencies Inc., Mandaue City government, the Canduman Barangay Council and the Canduman Haven Homeowners Association Incorporated. - Jasmin R. Uy
