This after the Office of the Consular Affairs of the DFA announced that they will put up a mobile passport service in Talisay City so that residents can take advantage of the speedy service of processing passports.
DFA regional director Angel Espiritu said their office conducts the mobile passport service in their area of jurisdiction every year to bring government services closer to the people. He said the project would spare those who want to secure passports from long queues of applicants at the main office in Osmeña Boulevard, and added that this will also get rid of unscrupulous individuals like fixers who victimize unsuspecting applicants.
Talisay City Vice Mayor Aberdovey Belleza said that the City Council has already signified its intention to allow constituents to avail of the mobile passport service, but the DFA has yet to decide when to make the service available.
To be able to get a passport, applicants will have to pay a P500 basic fee and P250 fee for miscellaneous expenses. Applicants should bring their birth certificate in security paper issued by the National Statistics Office or a certified true copy and photocopy of the birth certificate issued by the Local Civil Registrar duly authenticated by the NSO. They should also bring any document indicating their full name, date and place of birth and citizenship; valid employee's ID, voter's affidavit, NBI clearance or driver's license; and three copies of 4.5 cm x 3.5 cm recent colored picture with a plain background. Photo must show the applicant in a decent attire with collar.
