Man, 78, accused of raping girl, 13

A 78-year-old man was arrested by operatives of the Argao police after he allegedly raped a 13-year-old first year high school student in barangay Bogo, Argao town, last Friday night.

Fausto Albite, a neighbor of the victim, was picked-up by the police an hour after he reportedly raped the girl whose parents left the house to go to the market in barangay Poblacion.

PO3 Arnold Abenir of Argao police said that last Friday night, the victim's father Dionisio Gelbolingo reported to the police station that when he and his wife arrived home they saw their daughter in her room sitting half-naked on a mat and crying.

When asked what happened, she reportedly told her father that the suspect was able to sneak inside their house when she was alone and then raped her.

The team of SPO1 Carlito Amarillo then went to the suspect's house. They woke him up and brought him to the police station for investigation.

But since the victim was positive that it was the suspect who really raped her, the police then detained him pending the result of a medical check-up of the victim who was then brought to the Pink Room of the Isidro C. Kintanar Memorial Hospital. - Flor Z. Perolina
