A 74-year-old brother of Justice Hilario Davide, Jr., while waiting for a ride home after attending Mass at the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral yesterday, lost P3,980 to a pickpocket.
SPO3 Ernesto Caballero, desk officer on duty at the Waterfront police station said Dr. Oscar Davide, 74, of barangay Cogon Pardo, Cebu City and a granddaughter were standing along P. Burgos corner Legaspi Streets in barangay Sto. Nino at about 7:30 a.m. yesterday when a man in his 20s bumped and then shoved him. Davide suspects that an accomplice could have picked his wallet. Important documents went with the wallet.
Earlier, at about 2 am, the Waterfront Police arrested two men in Ermita for stealing mobile phone holsters from a store located at the corner of Manalili and Magallanes streets.
A team led by SPO1 Francisco Balansag caught Bernardo Talugan and Orlando Pasturico, both of legal age, while stealing 75 pieces of cellphone cotton holsters from Bos Housing Supply.
They reportedly used a bamboo pole to steal the items. Police could tell how much the holsters cost since the store was closed yesterday. The owners would be informed today about the robbery. - Ryan P. Borinaga
