A man said to have gone berserk after reportedly having a drink too many was inadvertently beaten to death by his two cousins last Thursday afternoon in barangay Manatad, Sibonga town in what was an attempt to pacify him.
Agustin Susada, 49, married and a farmer of the said place was killed allegedly by his cousins, Ignacio Flores and his brother Adonis, aged 50 and 25, respectively.
PO2 Jose Jamero of the Sibonga police yesterday said that Agustin had a drinking spree with the suspects prior to the incident. When he reportedly got drunk, a heated argument ensued between him and Ignacio whom he later struck with a kitchen knife hitting his cousin on the head and left foot.
Adonis grappled for the knife from Agustin, but he was instead hit in his right hand.
As Agustin and Adonis continued to grapple for the knife, Ignacio then took a rock and struck Agustin in the head and knocked him out. After Agustin collapsed to the ground, the suspects beat him with a piece of wood.
Both suspects then surrendered to the responding policemen, while Agustin was rushed to a hospital here in Cebu City. But the victim failed to make it to the hospital alive.
