Agro-industrial fair, cooking demo at "Inasal Festival"

-
Talisay City's first "Inasal Festival" from October 1 to 15 will showcase the city's renowned roasted pigs, an agro-industrial fair, and a cooking demonstration.

"The first "inasal" festival brings together all barangays, government and private sectors, and educational institutions in promoting its best product," councilor Shirley Belleza, chairman of the committee on tourism, cultural and historical affairs, said.

With less than a week before the festival, Belleza said everything is ready.

Cebu First District Rep. Eduardo Gullas wife, Norma yesterday formalized the opening of the week-long trade fair at the Cebu Coastal Road that will feature a display of Talisay's best products and industries.

On October 8, the highlights of the activity will be "Duwang Kinaraan" such as "karang," sack race, "humbaboy sawom harina," "inasal eating," among others.

Christian Purisima, food and beverage lecturer of the International Culinary Arts Academy of Cebu, will conduct cooking demonstration of "inasal" recipes.

"There is no doubt that Talisay is the best lechon in the country but there are still so many things you can do of the leftovers aside from paksiw," Purisima said.

On the 15th of October, Belleza said there will be "kumbira sa inasal," a parade of roated pigs that will start at the old City Hall going to SRP fronting the new Talisay City Hall.

Belleza said that on the day of the festival, the lechons would be sold to the public at low prices. - Garry B. Lao
