Three motorcycle-riding men held up a lotto outlet in barangay Sabang, Danao City and fled with P300,000 in cash and checks Wednesday evening.
Danao Police Chief Larson Dechino and his men, who had just attended a seminar organized by the Regional Peace and Order Council and were returning to the city, even met the three men on a motorcycle without a hint they were robbers. Dechino and his men had to go back to chase the robbers after knowing what happened. But the chase proved futile.
Police said Eva Miro was about to close the lotto terminal at past 7 p.m. that night when all of a sudden a man brandishing a .45 cal. pistol rushed up to her and declared a holdup. The men took Miro's bag containing the money, checks, and a cellular phone worth about P20,000.
Before leaving, the man with the gun fired into the air.
