Project to continue despite no permit

-
Although the Talisay City Council has temporarily revoked its permit, the Sta. Lucia Realty Development Corporation can still continue with its development project in the city provided its drainage system is well taken care of.

City secretary Emigdio Enjambre Jr. said Sta. Lucia can proceed with the subdivision project, but it should prioritize its drainage system. The drainage system passes through the road in sitio Ilang-Ilang and the Lagtang Road in barangay Lagtang.

But the firm stopped the installation of the culverts in the area because the Metropolitan Cebu Water District has a huge pipeline in the same road.

Enjambre said the notice of revocation of Sta. Lucia's permit has yet to be sent to its management because they are still waiting for the signature of Vice Mayor Aberdovey Belleza.

In a press conference yesterday morning, Sta. Lucia's lawyer, Carmino Ferandos, said they would abide by whatever decision the city government makes.

Sta. Lucia supervising engineer Jayrwyn Rosal said their project in barangay Candulawan was stopped following the revocation of their permit by the City Council.

The permit's revocation was unanimously approved by the City Council on the motion filed by Councilor Alan Bucao following the complaint by at least 60 residents and the barangay council of Lagtang.

Bucao said Sta. Lucia Realty should mitigate measures to prevent mudslides in the areas affected by its project.

In a meeting on September 13, project engineer Albert Plazos said the firm has already promised to remove the mud and clean up the canal. - Garry B. Lao
