LTO to put out ID-ATM card

- Wenna Berondo -
Land Transportation Office workers nationwide would soon have a new electronic card that would function both as identification card and ATM card.

The project, which is undertaken by the Land Bank of the Philippines, aims to offer banking convenience to the LTO employees nationwide.

The LTO said that once this becomes effective, it would benefit more than 2,800 workers around the country in accessing salaries.

The e-card is designed like a typical ID card bearing the employee's signature, designation, and division of assignment, which allows employees to use them as the normal ID during workdays.

In a press statement, Land Bank acting president and chief executive officer Gilda Pico said the e-card offers banking convenience for LTO employees who could now access their salaries and deposit accounts by using it anywhere in the country through the bank's more than 600 ATMs nationwide.

To formalize and implement the project, Land Bank has inked a memorandum of agreement for the provision of pick-up collection services to all LTO offices in Manila and its selected provincial district offices. The agreement was signed by LBP acting agrarian and domestic banking sector head Simeona Guevarra and LTO assistant secretary Anneli Lontoc.

With the bank's interconnection with the Expressnet and Megalink consortium, cardholders could also access their accounts through over 4,000 ATMs all over the country.

All collections nationwide will be automatically credited to the Bureau of Treasury's account maintained by the LBP.
