Archbishop Ricardo Cardinal Vidal is asking a group of citizens who are pressing for President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo's resignation, to keep its protest actions peaceful.
Saddened over the rejection of the impeachment complaint by the House against Arroyo, a group calling itself the "White Ribbon Movement," which is composed Catholic and protestant clergy members, has asked Cardinal Vidal to lead the way to what is just and morally upright.
But Vidal said he will not join any protest actions but advised the group to keep its protest peaceful.
"Whatever is their decision it is their decision it will be up to them for as long as they are doing it peacefully," the cardinal said.
The group has scheduled a motorcade tomorrow and a big rally on September 21, the anniversary of the declaration of Martial Law.
The group has called for the immediate resignation of President Gloria Macapagal -Arroyo during a prayer service at the Justice and Peace Office of the Redemptorist St. Alphonsus seminary in Cebu City. "We realize that the current crisis is not only a political concern but a moral issue necessitating the faithful to act and call for renewal," the group said in their statement of unity. - Jasmin R.
