Japan gives fire trucks, ambulances to province

-
The Japanese government has donated several fire trucks and ambulances to the Province of Cebu, which will be personally accepted by the top provincial officials in the middle of September.

Governor Gwendolyn Garcia announced the Japanese donation of 12 fire trucks and five ambulances before she left for China to attend the East Asian Tourism Forum.

Garcia said she and Vice Governor Gregorio Sanchez will personally receive the donation in the middle of this month at the Philippine Embassy in Japan in the presence of embassy officials who are expected to witness the signing of the donation documents.

The governor said she and Sanchez and board member Victor Maambong will leave for Japan on September 11 to receive the donation. Garcia said that aside from the donation the Japanese government will also shoulder the shipping cost.

Garcia said the donation will help address the ambulance and fire truck shortage of some towns.

She also said the distribution of these fire trucks and ambulances from Japan will depend on the need of the towns. -Fred P. Languido
