2 stabbed with bottles, 1 dead

A man was killed while his companion is now in critical condition after they were stabbed by three unidentified men with beer bottles inside a karaoke bar in sitio Humay-Humay, barangay Pajo, Lapu-Lapu City yesterday dawn.

Allan Jayme, 25, single of Cogon West, Carmen town and an employee of Shangrila Hotel, and his friend, Pyrmidson Melendrez, 25, of Compostela town, were stabbed several times in different parts of their bodies during a drinking spree inside the bar.

Based on initial investigation conducted by the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office, the victims, together with their three friends, attended the birthday party of Melendrez's cousin in barangay Pajac Monday evening.

After 10 p.m., the victims and some other friends decided to have a drink at one of the karaoke bars.

But while Jayme and his group were drinking, three men drinking at a separate table allegedly got jealous because all the guest relation officers of the bar mingled with the group.

The three men then left the place, but when they got back to the bar they grabbed the beer bottles served at the victims' table, broke these, and took turns in stabbing Jayme and Melendrez, as the other companions of the victims scampered away.

Melendrez died while being brought to the Lapu-Lapu City District Hospital while Jayme is now in critical condition at the Mactan Community Hospital.
