The resolution drafted by school officer-in-charge Firmo Resgonia, dated August 13, is asking Talisay City Mayor Socrates Fernandez to make way for the construction of two to three classrooms for the newly created barangay high school.
The BNHS opened just this June after the city schools division superintendent made an official declaration for the opening of classes in the barangay.
With 74 enrollees who are all freshmen students, in two class sections, Resgonia said the teachers are forced to hold classes in makeshift structures.
"This resolution deals with the delivery of basic social services as well as the future of our 74 officially enrolled students," Resgonia said. Class advisers Juanita Cabanca and Meralisa Bacus also signed the resolution.
Councilor Ritchel Bacaltos, chairperson of the committee on education, said that some public schools in the city utilize barangay halls as classrooms such as those in Biasong, Bulacao and Manipis.
