Lapu-Lapu City police chief Louie Oppus identified the suspects as Rolando Amistoso, the boat captain, Randolf Amistoso, 30, Fernando Ancot, 41, Rimon Alburo, 18, Renante Mandaue, 25, Fernando Pelayo, 30, Danilo Ngujo,35,Alberto Mercede, 43, Cesar Gonzaga, 29, Jhunrey Munez, 25, Marven Cantay, 35, Efren Tudio, 49, and Mariano Mendoza, 32, all of Bogo, Cebu.
Initial investigation conducted by police disclosed that the members of Special Weapons and Tactics received information that a fishing boat marked F/B Leonida was involved in illegal fishing.
Policemen led by PO3 Andres Archie arrested the suspects,.
Police confiscated one fishing boat F/B Leonida markings, a radar, an amplifier, a Global Positioning System devise, a base radio, and a set of mesh net.
Police also confiscated ten kilos of fish.
Police said the fishing boat is owned by one Narciso Jusay of Bogo, Cebu.
Police are now preparing charges against the suspects presently detained at the Lapu-Lapu City jail.
