A suspected bigtime drug pusher, who set up a surveillance camera infront of his door for security, fell into the hands of the authorities in barangay Pulpogan, Consolacion town, last Wednesday night.
Earlier, operatives from the Criminal Investigation and Detection secured a warrant signed by judge Marilyn Yap against the suspect Leonardo Gaviola.
Around 11 p.m. that day, the operatives, led by C/Insp. Crisaleo Tolentino waited for him outside his house, when Gaviola arrived at his doorstep the police immediately arrested him.
Tolentino said the raid was orderly with Pulpogan barangay captain Arlene Tungco herself and her tanods acting as witnesses.
Based on a month-long surveillance, Gaviola was said to be a Level 2 drug pusher who can dispose up to 200 grams of shabu in a week with his areas of operation including Mandaue City and Liloan town.
Gaviola has reportedly been into the drug trade for a long time already and that his involvement in the nefarious trade has become a personal knowledge among the residents.
He was also arrested years ago by another unit for the same offense but he managed to post bail.
During last Wednesday's raid operatives also recovered shabu estimated to be worth P10,000, drug paraphernalia, a .22 cal. revolver with 12 live bullets, two bullets for a .45 cal. pistol and P2,070 cash believed to be drug money.
He also had a small surveillance camera rigged to his doorbell, but the device was of little use last Wednesday night. - Ryan P. Borinaga
