Closure of access road to Tabunok mall eyed

Talisay City Traffic Commission chairman Aberdovey Belleza yesterday threatened to close the center portion
of the highway that has been used as access road for vehicles to a mall in Tabunok.
Belleza, also the city vice mayor, said the Gaisano-Tabunok management had allegedly failed to cooperate with the city government in solving the logjam of vehicles in front of the mall that has contributed to the traffic snarl in the area.
The front space of the mall was supposed to be the parking area of passenger tricycles but it turned out being used also by taxis, a situation that practically pushes the tricycles towards the portion of the highway and partially blocks passing motorists.
Belleza said the taxis were supposed to park at a space at the back portion of the mall but 1the mall management allegedly allowed them to fight for space at the front that was supposedly for exclusive use of tricycles.
For two months since, the commission has been calling the mall management to correct the situation but it allegedly failed to respond, said Belleza adding that he might as well recommend to the commission the closure of the access road to the mall.
However, a representative from Gaisano-Tabunok lately went to the office of the vice-mayor to say that the management has been discussing the city's traffic plan for the area, and it will send its word on the matter soon.
