PB lauds governor's international citation

The members of the legislative department at the Capitol shared the honor of Governor Gwendolyn Garcia having been recognized as one of the 100 brightest men and women in the Southeast Asian region who were invited to the ASEAN leadership forum in Singapore on September.

Provincial board member Victor Maambong, in a draft resolution, which he proposed to be approved in today's regular session, said that the members of the board are also proud of Garcia.

Garcia is recognized by the Asia Inc. Forum as one of the five best and brightest leaders in the Philippines and among the 100 in the ASEAN region invited to the ASEAN 100 Leadership Forum 2005 on September 28 and 29 at the Ritz-Carlton Millennia, Singapore.

Timothy Ong, convenor of Asia Inc. Forum, who sent the invitation letter to Garcia, said that the participants to the forum were chosen based on their leadership ability to shape the future of the region.

There other four in the Philippines considered among the best, brightest and most promising young leaders are senators Mar Roxas, Francisco Pangilinan, Mindoro Rep. Edmundo Reyes and businessman Jaime Zobel de Ayala.

Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsein Loong, Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Sri Najib Razak and Indonesian defense minister Juwono Sudarsono will be among the delegates.- Fred P. Languido
