Biz locators to Carcar to enjoy tax incentives

Once an ordinance seeking the declaration of Carcar town as a heritage town, tax incentives would be granted to business firms that would locate to the town.
Thus said town councilor Edgardo Oca, who heads the committee on culture.
Businesses are granted a year of exemption from business taxes for every 10 years of existence in the area.
At least 20 percent for every million is exempted from paying taxes if new buildings are constructed in conformity with the architectural identity of Carcar's heritage structures.
During the public hearing, it was clarified by Sarah Castro, vice president of the Carcar Historical and Conservation Society, that to be in consonance with the heritage theme, the building owner need not spend more.
The owner just have to adopt ways in which the structure will not be too modern or will not in itself catch attention away from the monuments or heritage sites, she said.
Once Carcar is declared a heritage town, it would be granted financial aid from the national government for the preservation and restoration of structures and intangible and natural things that have historical and cultural value.
