Soldier stabbed as 4 men gang up on him

A member of the Philippine Air Force is now recuperating in a hospital after his drunk neighbors reportedly stabbed and mauled him last Friday night in sitio Bantayan, barangay Poblacion, Cordova town.

M/Sgt Cesar Sampiano, detailed as military police at the Mactan Benito Ebuen Air Base in Lapu-Lapu City, is confined at the Visayas Command Military hospital after a certain Rolando Cabao-cabao allegedly stabbed the side portion of his body with an ice pick.

The suspect was also taken to hospital after the soldier hacked him once on the right side of his neck in retaliation.

Based on the investigation conducted by Cordova police, Sampiano bought cigarettes at a store owned by a certain Helen Sultan where Cabao-cabao was drinking with neighbors Rudy Sultan, Ervin Menguito, and Melchor Menguito.

Cabao-cabao reportedly asked Sampiano of the whereabouts of his brother-in-law Roger Premacio. Unsatisfied by Sampiano's answer, Cabao-cabao stabbed the soldier.

Though wounded, Sampiano managed to get inside his house, and came back with a bolo. He hacked Cabao-cabao once on the neck. Cabao-cabao's companions Sultan and the Menguitos took turns in mauling Sampiano. Sultan then hit Sampiano's face with a broken bottle of beer.

Cabao-cabao's three other companions are now detained at the Cordova police station.
