The Naval Forces Central has put up detachments in different provinces in the Visayas to intensify the campaign against illegal fishing.

Naval Forces Central Chief, Commodore Ludovico Franco said the detachments are being manned by Philippine Navy personnel and members of the Philippine National Police and Bantay Dagat volunteers.

Franco said the detachments are located at Balicasag in the island town of Panglao in Bohol, Enrique Villanueva in Siquijor, Naval in Biliran province.

More detachments would be put up in other provinces where illegal fishing is reportedly rampant.

However, the main concern of Naval Forces is to support the Armed Forces of the Philippines' campaign against threats to peace and order but to protect the environment is also one of its priorities, Franco said.
